Extreme Wind Tool Window

This feature is coming soon to Windographer 5.

This tool window allows you to fit the Gumbel distribution to a set of wind speeds, and to use that fitted Gumbel distribution to estimate the 50-yr extreme wind speed.

To use this window, you must type or paste in several extreme wind speed values, and specify the time interval over which those extreme values occurred. The Precondition radio buttons give you the option of transforming the values by applying an exponent to them before fitting the Gumbel distribution. In many cases such preconditioning can help improve the accuracy of the Gumbel fit (Harris, 1996).
