Templates

A template is a small file encapsulating all the properties of all the data columns in a dataset. In other words, it stores all the information shown on the Data Columns tab of the Configure Dataset window.

You can save a template from one dataset and apply it to another dataset that you import into Windographer using File > Open. Templates can save time if you repeatedly open data files with the same data structure, because rather than entering all the properties of each data column individually, you can simply apply the template.

The template stores the type, name, units, measurement height, and color information for each data column, along with any data column associations that you have made, such as maximum, minimum, and standard deviation data columns associated with wind speed or direction columns.

From the Data Columns tab of the Configure Dataset window, click Save Template to save the template to a file, or Load Template to load the template from a file. Windographer gives template files a *.wt extension.

Tip: After exporting a template file, you can quickly change it into a WIS file by changing its extension to WIS and then changing the <configuration> block to <import_settings>.
