The special invalid data flag is the one that you have identified in the Define Flags window as the special-purpose flag for invalid data:

The name and properties of this flag do not matter. What matters is that you have identified this flag as the one that indicates invalid data.

The Configure Dataset window offers the option to apply the special invalid data flag.
