Measurement Height

The measurement height of a data column is the height above ground level at which its measurements apply. In the case of a meteorological tower, this refers to the height at which the instrument is physically mounted on the tower. In the case of remote sensing systems, this refers to the height of the layer of air upon which the system focuses when making measurements reported in that data column.

Windographer attempts to read measurement heights from raw data files. You can view and enter measurement heights in the Configure Dataset window.

Windographer sometimes refers to the measurement height as the 'nominal measurement height' or just 'nominal height' to distinguish it from the effective measurement height. The two values are different only if you have specified a nonzero displacement height.
