Vacant Time Steps

In the process of reconstruction across datasets, the vacant time steps in a particular dataset are those that lack valid data in all data columns of the relevant type that the user has specified for calculating patterns. Pattern-based reconstruction is impossible in the vacant time steps, so Windographer uses the MCP-based reconstruction mechanism when attempting to reconstruct the primary data column of each type in the vacant time steps.

In the screenshot below, for example, the user has specified three wind speed data columns for the calculation of patterns in the 'M1' dataset:

In that example, say the primary speed column is 'Spd60' and the data coverage patterns are as follows:

The vacant time steps would therefore consist of two segments in December and one in January, where none of the three relevant data columns contains valid data:

The MCP-based mechanism would therefore attempt to reconstruct the vacant time steps in the primary speed column:
