Time Step of Comparison

A workbook allows you compare between two or more datasets. That entails comparing concurrent values, meaning values that apply to a time interval that is consistent across datasets. If the one dataset contains 10-minute time steps, for example, and another contains hourly time steps, then we need to resample one or the other, or both, to a common time step to align the time steps and determine concurrent values.

The time step of comparison is the common time step to which Windographer resamples the datasets for this comparison. Whether or not the datasets share the same time step, the analyst may want to resample to a longer time interval, perhaps 24 hours, to achieve better correlation.

Some analysis windows, such as the Time Series window, let you compare datasets with different time steps. Others require you to choose a common time step of comparison, for example the Scatterplot window and the Long Term Adjustment window.
