Wind Frequency Rose

A 'wind frequency rose' is a graph or table showing how frequently the wind blows from each direction sector. The graphical version of a wind frequency rose can take many forms, one of which appears in the example below, which shows that the wind blows most frequently from the northeast, and least frequently from the west:

Whereas the above example subdivides the circle into twelve direction sectors, the example below plots the same data subdivided by 36 direction sectors to show greater detail:

The 12-sector frequency rose can be displayed in tabular format as follows:

Sector Frequency (%)
# Midpoint Direction 58 m
1 11.80
2 30° 14.73
3 60° 11.09
4 90° 9.35
5 120° 6.07
6 150° 6.20
7 180° 6.70
8 210° 8.06
9 240° 6.20
10 270° 5.29
11 300° 7.06
