Transferring Licenses

You can transfer a Windographer license from one computer to another by deactivating the license on the first computer and then activating it on the second. You can activate and deactivate a license in the License Management window, which you can access from the Help menu.

Managing Licenses

When you purchase one or more Windographer licenses you will receive a purchase code. To activate a license you enter that purchase code in the License Management window and click Activate License, at which time Windographer communicates with our license web server to confirm your license status. To deactivate an active license, simply click Deactivate License. Your computer must be connected to the Internet to activate or deactivate a license.

If you purchase a single license, the license web server will allow you to activate one license at a time using that purchase code. If you purchase three licenses, it will allow you to activate at most three licenses at a time using that purchase code. So to move an active license from on one computer to another you must first deactivate it on the first computer, then activate it on the second computer. You can repeat this process any number of times, and once you have entered the purchase code on both computers, it only takes a few clicks: open the License Management window and click the button to activate or deactivate.

Sharing Licenses

You can use the activate/deactivate process to share a single license between multiple computers. For example, if you have a Windographer license activate on your office desktop, at the end of each day you can deactivate it on your desktop and activate it on your laptop for use in the evening. Every morning you could then deactivate the license on the laptop and activate it on the desktop. In the same way, multiple users could share a single license by taking turns activating the license.

You can use the same process to share a license among several users on a single computers, but the easier way to do that is to choose to activate the license for all users on the computer.

Replacing A Computer

If you plan to replace a computer on which you have an active Windographer license, you should deactivate the license before you stop using the old computer. Then install Windographer on the new computer and activate the license with the same purchase code. If you do not first deactivate the license on the original computer, you will have to contact us before activating the license on the new computer.

Reinstalling Windows

If you plan to reinstall Windows on a computer on which you have an active Windographer license, you should follow the same process as if you were replacing the computer. First deactivate your license, then reinstall Windows, then activate the license using the same purchase code.
