Importing NSD Files

NSD files, also called 'site files' or 'site database files', are written by the Symphonie Data Logger software by RNRG Systems. NSD files contain scaled data accumulated from one or many RWD files. You can open NSD files in Windographer using File > Open or File > Append.

Windographer will obtain the height, sensor type, units, scale, offset and sensor serial numbers where possible along with the calibrated data. The height and sensor type will be used to create a helpful data column name such as Speed 60m A, or Direction 50m Max. The scale, offset and sensor serial number will be stored in the Calibration window.

Notes:

  1. You can use the free SDR software (available from NRG Systems) to combine data from many RWD files into an NSD file.
  2. By default, the SDR software places NSD files in C:\NRG\SiteFiles. Windows may also put the files in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\NRG\SiteFiles
  3. By default, the SDR software names NSD files with the four-digit site number, so for site number 3456 the site file would be named 3456.nsd.
  4. To read RWD files, Windographer needs to be able to find the SDR software on your computer. You can tell it where to find the SDR software in Tools > Options > Folders.

If you experience any difficulty in opening an NSD file in Windographer, please let us know, and send us the file if possible. (We treat all data confidentially.)
