Data Segment

A data segment is a set of one or more contiguous data points in a single data column. Three properties define a data segment:

If we represented a dataset as a table of data, with one row for each time step and one column for each data column, then a data segment would correspond to one or more cells in one column of that table. The example below highlights a data segment comprised of six data points:
