Importing ZX Lidars Data Files

ZPH files are binary-format data files written by ZX Lidars. You can open ZPH files in Windographer using File > Open or File > Append, provided you have the ZPH2CSV.exe software installed on your computer. ZX Lidars provides this software.

ZX data also sometimes appears in the form of a text file, typically with a CSV extension. Whether in CSV or ZPH format, ZX data files typically contain 10-minute measurements of horizontal and vertical wind speed and wind direction at multiple measurement heights, plus surface temperature and pressure.

When Windographer opens a ZX data file, Windographer detects the measurement heights and identifies the data columns that contain:

Windographer automatically removes all of the invalid codes (values of 9992 through 9999) when reading the file, leaving missing values or gaps. This simplifies the analysis of the files because the user doesn't have to flag those values each time.

If you experience any difficulty in opening a ZX data file in Windographer, please let us know, and send us the file if possible. (We treat all data confidentially.)
